Casting : Organising

Today we got given our shooting dates and our shooting date is Monday the 10th of May at 8:50am. We had to then inform our cast members that this is the date they will be needed and the time, as they are the only characters in our production they will be needed all day. I emailed Adam and Neave emailed Mathilde to confirm the dates and time and anything they may need to bring in for this shoot.

Mood board: Costumes/Props/Themes

To help with our production group and to gather some more information and details about our production, I made a few mood boards as a way to make our ideas more visual and clearer. I made 1 mood boards for the location and themes and then another mood board for props and then another 3 mood boards for the costumes for each character.

Themes and location:

For the location for our opening sequence, using a small, old, eerie house would be very ideal. The Lodge boarding house on the school campus would work very well and would be ideal for our production / opening sequence, as it fits the criteria we as a group are hoping for. The theme for our opening sequence is dark, eerie, on edge and a sense of high suspense, therefore I have used dark and eerie images on this mood board to portray these themes and to put them into a visual aspect. These are my ideas of the themes and location I would like to use / portray.

Characters mood board:

Woman FBI agent - Matilde:

We as a group are hoping to create / portray our female FBI agent as a strong and dominant female lead character. The use of this character dressing in a suit and coming across as strong minded makes it more clear to the viewer, what her role is and what she is capable of. The use of this character holding a gun also makes it clear to the viewer that this is an FBI agent and not a police women. We are also playing with stereotypes throughout this opening sequence by having the only female character, the strong and fully put together character throughout the sequence. This is my idea on how I would like this female FBI agent character to come across as and the effect I am hoping to illustrate.

Male victim - Bashy:
This character is going to be dressed in a young looking aesthetic to portray the age we are hoping to illustrate for this character, which is a young boy. As the female FBI agent is walking through the house there will be photo frames around the house - of the young victim and his family - this provides information that this is a family home and the young boys' house. There will be blood around the boy to show the boys injuries and how he has been hurt by the intruder. This is my idea of how this victim will look like and come across as.

Attempt murderer -  Adam:

This character is not going to be dressed in a stereotypical murderer outfit (all black), this character is going to go against the stereotypes and will be dressed in a 'normal' looking outfit, he will also be holding the knife that he has used to hurt the young boy and this knife will have 'blood' on it. This is my perspective of how I would like this character to come across and look like.

Casting

Who and Why?

Female cop: Matilde Mesquita DeMelo

Matilde is a 17 year old female but looks much older, she is very strong at acting and would be very suited to play the main female role of the FBI woman and she would be able to lead to production and portray the idea of a strong, powerful lead female cop.

Injured / close to death boy/girl: Bashy Slater

Bashy is a 16 year old boy who would be very suited to play to character of the injured / close to death boy, as he has a very young looking face which works with the plot of this production because if we were to use an older looking boy it would leave the viewer thinking if he was older he would be more able to defend themselves and fight back.

Intruder / murderer: Adam Grant

We have chosen to use Adam Grant (a media teacher) as our intruder / villan because this allows us to follow into stereotypes of having a male villan, and a female 'hero'.  Adam has a particular look and aesthetic that on camera can come across as a strong individual to play the character of an intruder / murderer.

Back up:

Female cop: Liv Rooks, Susannah Robertson.

Injured / close to death boy/girl: Maddie Black, Neave Van-triet.

Intruder / murderer: Joel Baine, Mike Niland

Ideal cast:

Female cop: Scarlett Johansson

Injured / close to death boy/girl: Tom Holland

Intruder / murderer: Leonardo DiCaprio
